enviolo launches ‘envision’, its new holistic sustainability strategy, on World Bicycle Day.

3rd of June 2024, World Bicycle Day – as the global cycling community comes together to celebrate World Bicycle Day, enviolo is delighted to announce the launch of its new Sustainability Strategy. Named ‘envision’, enviolo’s new strategy challenges the industry to go beyond promoting the bicycle as a healthy and sustainable form of mobility and make more tangible commitments towards environmental conservation and social impact.

The announcement of ‘envision’ marks an important milestone towards the company’s mission of ‘moving people better’. Structured around the three core pillars of ESG –Thriving planet, Empowered community and Responsible business–  ‘envision’ encompasses 11 concrete targets that the company aims to fulfil by 2030. These commitments span greenhouse gas emission reductions, increased recycled content in the company’s product and packaging portfolio, gender representation targets, independent human rights safeguards for supply chain workers, and cycling advocacy initiatives.

“If we’re serious about getting people to take fewer trips in cars and more trips on bikes, we simply need to do better as an industry”, said Omar El Nayal, enviolo’s Director of Sustainability.  “As a cycling community, we need to have the courage to address some challenging yet crucial questions like: How sustainable are our manufacturing processes? What is the environmental and social impact of the materials underlying our products? How future-proof are the decisions we are taking today? Through envision, we aim to tackle these issues head-on. It’ll surely be a difficult journey and we’ll almost certainly hit some roadblocks along the way, but the time for action is now. Our hope is that we inspire meaningful change across the cycling industry”.

enviolo’s holistic approach to managing ESG comes at a time when sustainability is increasingly shifting to the forefront of end consumers’ and regulators’ minds.

“For years, our customers have turned to us for high quality bike transmissions”, said Ed Culley, enviolo’s CEO. “Today, our aim is that they regard us with that same conviction as their partner of choice for sustainability. Executed correctly and authentically, sustainability can help brands gain an edge in an increasingly crowded market while simultaneously mitigating ESG risks across their supply chain. Through ‘envision’, I’m excited to partner with our customers on a wide range of initiatives that will help ensure that the bicycle remains the ultimate form of sustainable mobility.”
